Two New Endowed Scholarships for West Catholic High School
At its June 20 quarterly meeting the Foundation for Catholic Secondary Education Board of Directors authorized the transfer of $22,107 from its unrestricted fund to fully finance two new scholarships for students at West Catholic High School: $16,047 was transferred to the West Catholic Band Boosters Scholarship and an additional $8,953.00 to the Ed Wagner Scholarship Fund. These two new scholarships will go into effect for the 2013 academic school year to assist students with financial need.
West Catholic now has three endowed scholarships. Catholic Central has 15, and there are five endowed scholarships available to assist students from either high school.
A minimum contribution of $25,000 is required to create a named, endowed scholarship fund. With an endowed scholarship, the total contribution is invested and a portion of the annual earnings (approximately 4.0%) is awarded annually to one or more recipients. Please call Michael Wolfston at 616-514-6069 if you need additional information about starting an endowed scholarship.
Foundation for Catholic Secondary Education Annual Gift
The Foundation for Catholic Secondary Education has donated $190,397 to Catholic Central and West Catholic High Schools. Of that total, $184,104 will be used to financially assist students at both high schools for the 2011-12 school year.
Jim Payne Tuition Assistance Fund
Mr. Jim Payne and his wife, Linda, have established the Jim Payne Tuition Assistance Fund to assist incoming 9th through 12th grade students at Catholic Central who have financial need. Jim is a 1972 graduate of Catholic Central High School.
